Kia ora. This is me and my husband Hira Te Ahu and yes…. we are posing with the World Rugby League Cup. Our tamariki of Te Kura o Ngati Haua were finishing a marae noho at Paeroa when the cup was bought to town. We’ve been blessed with seven beautiful children. I’ve been CAYAD Morrinsville since April 2005 and I love what I do. It’s been awesome working with community, iwi, hapu, whanau to create positive changes for rangatahi and whanau. It’s great to see the community’s shared passion, vision and drive taking shape in an effort to support and show our rangatahi and leaders for tomorrow their value and self worth through collective community support, rangatahi mentoring and positive role modeling so that our rangatahi will aspire to and achieve their dreams, hopes and goals, through positive self leadership for the future.

I have been an employee of Te Ahurei A Rangatahi since 1999 and have had various roles within the roopu. Currently I am the Rahui Pokeka CAYAD Coordinator. I have lived in Rahui Pokeka all my life. It was an intention for me to work with the rangatahi back home, being based in Hamilton all those other years. I have had an awesome journey so far with the CAYAD Kaupapa, including some mean Kaumatua/Whanau and Rangatahi initiatives that have happened e.g. the Rangatahi Hauora Conference, Kaumatua Programme, Mau Rakau initiative etc. During 2010, the aim is to action the CAYAD three year programme logic plan. I have a strong relationship with the local service providers and high schools (Te Whare Kura O Rakaumangamanga and Huntly College), the majority of the Huntly primary and intermediate schools, Waikato DHB, Huntly Police and other key stakeholders. This in my opinion is essential to have as a CAYAD kaimahi.
No reira kei te mihi.
