Community action is a strategy for creating community-based change towards specific social and environmental policy objectives.  CAYAD work is informed by evidence including local, cultural and academic knowledge and includes a major focus on developing and mobilising local capacity, capability and leadership to better utilise existing resources to reduce drug related harm.

The CAYAD Success Stories will give you a good idea of the work of CAYAD coordinators around the country. In each story, you will see CAYAD co-ordinators facilitate effective collaboration between people or organisations identified for their ability to influence positive change at the community level. Together, they implement strategies that will tangibly reduce alcohol and other drug related harm and increase opportunities for young people to succeed.

CAYAD co-ordinators also provide information to communities and support them to have their say in alcohol or other drug policy development.
