Welcome to Community Action Youth and Drugs
This website features and celebrates the Community Action Youth and Drugs (CAYAD) project. This is a national project to reduce harm to young people and families/whanau from illicit drugs. The Ministry of Health currently funds 30 CAYAD sites in cities, towns and rural areas across New Zealand. The majority of these sites were established nearly five years ago.
It is inspiring to see how CAYAD Co-ordinators and communities have found innovative ways to make a difference for young people and their families/whanau. While there are common issues across New Zealand with drugs and young people, every community has unique strengths, needs and challenges. CAYAD Co-ordinators collaborate effectively to creatively meet these challenges. You will see this reflected in the diversity of Community Action Youth and Drugs success stories from a nation of communities committed to making an extraordinary difference.
